25-year Class of 1985 Reunion Date Announced

Attention: Red Dragons of 1985

The date for the 25-year class reunion has been set for July 16th-18th 2010.  The current plan is to have events spread across these dates.  As with the 20-year, we will include at least one family and a dinner / dance event.  We received very positive feedback with every attendee picking the events they would like to attend.  We will continue this format for the upcoming event.

The planning of each event will beginning in November. We are seeking the input from each of you as to what each event should be.  If you are a member of Facebook, the SAHS Class of 1985 group is available with a discussion thread to provide feedback.  Feedback sent by e-mail is always appreciated.

25-year Reunion Committee Meeting Minutes - March 5th, 2009

In attendance:

SAHS Alumni will be celebrating the 100th birthday of SAHS the first week of October, 2009. It will most likely be a 2-day event with a parade and local events, most likely at the high school. More information to come.

SAHS Class of 1985 to use Facebook for communication, planning and feedback on the upcoming 25-year reunion. All classmates are encouraged to join. If anyone know of classmates that are not members of the group, they need to send a group request to the SAHSClassof1985 Facebook group. The current Yahoo group will be phased out in the coming weeks.

A poll was established to determine what month classmates would most like to scheduled the reunion in. The poll will run thru the month of April. This is a private poll with the link and password available on Facebook.

Some events that have been suggested

• Cookout at Coonskin park or some other location
• Events at the High School
• Ball game at the Power Park
• Dinner / Dance
• Show at the Clay Center

General Discussion:

• Once more people have been invited to the Facebook group, establish committees to plan events.
• Smaller committees will be formed to handle planning of individual events, as needed.
• Invite some teachers to the events that were at SAHS during our class
• Events will be "buffet style" pick and chose, price for each
• Events will be spread across 2 days with an event during the day and evening each day
• Possible venues (not limited to):
  • Summit
  • Charleston Women's Club
  • University of Charleston
• An American Idol style Karaoke was suggested as an event, possibly at the Dinner / Dance

Next meeting was scheduled for April 23rd 7:00pm in the Red Dragon room of Shoney's in Saint Albans

Class of 1985 has a Facebook group

The SAHS Class of 1985 has a group on Facebook.  This group is available to all members of our graduating class.  Those wishing to join can send a group request to SAHSClassof1985 for an invite.  There are currently 35 members of the class who have joined this group.

Another group that you may be interested in is the St. Albans High School Red Dragons Alumni started by Jeff Lamb of the class of 1988.
